Kiln Process
After drying, the bisque is ready to be placed in the kiln. It will heat to 1828 degrees Fahrenheit over a period of 7.25 hours. Then it will cool for 19 hours. After the kiln has cooled to 130 degrees Fahrenheit, the bisque is ready for unloading. Before customers pick up their pottery, stilt marks are sanded
down with a sand-stone (glazed bisque is placed on stilts on shelves in the
kiln before firing). After sanding, the pottery is ready to take home.
